The next step in the Village Church's process of investigating a policy of hosting same-sex marriages in our church facility will be a gathering at 7:00pm on Tuesday, August 29, in Westminster Hall. The presentation is titled, "A Conversation on Same-Sex Marriage: Two Congregations’ Stories."
We have invited two PC(USA) pastors to share the stories of how their congregations arrived at different positions on this issue. They are the Rev. Ray Hylton, Pastor of First Presbyterian Church, Evanston, and the Rev. David Boumgarden, former Pastor of River Glen Presbyterian Church, Naperville, and currently Interim Pastor at First Presbyterian Church, Winnetka. We hope the experiences of two sister congregations will be instructive to all of us. However, we want to stress that this evening will not be a debate. Rather, each presenter will simply share his story, followed with an opportunity for questions from the audience.
